HIV prevention in African, Caribbean and Black communities
This webinar series is delivered in partnership with the African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario (ACCHO), Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP) and Africans in Partnership Against AIDS (APAA).

African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) people in Canada experience disproportionately high rates of HIV due to intersecting social and structural determinants of health and a lack of culturally relevant services along the HIV continuum of prevention, testing, treatment and care. This is further exacerbated by HIV-related stigma and discrimination toward communities affected by HIV.
To address these systemic barriers and improve the health and well-being of ACB people, programs are needed that remove structural barriers and support HIV testing and prevention services. Recognizing this urgent need, several organizations joined strengths to collaborate on a webinar series, addressing obstacles that limit Black communities’ ability to fully benefit from available HIV prevention strategies.
This webinar series brings together experts to discuss HIV stigma, anti-Black racism and the needs of African, Caribbean and Black communities. It explores the current landscape of HIV prevention strategies, including PrEP uptake, and highlights collaborative approaches to closing gaps in HIV prevention for ACB communities.
