Peer health navigation: mental health implications of working as a peer
A webinar in partnership with Positive Living B.C.
Peer health navigation is a person-centred approach to guide, connect, refer, educate and accompany people living with HIV through systems of care. The goals of health navigation are to support people living with HIV in their self-determined goals, to build the capacity of clients to self-manage their HIV care, to navigate systems themselves and, ultimately, improve their health and overall wellness.
This webinar focuses on the ethical considerations related to peer health navigation programs and provides an orientation to the mental health implications of working as a peer health navigator. The webinar includes aspects of boundary setting, confidentiality, self-care and the dual roles that peer navigators can experience. The webinar provides peers and program managers with an opportunity to learn about issues and challenges, as well as discusses real-world scenarios and tools to support the delivery of peer services.
