Canadian guidelines on sexually transmitted infections: Summary of recommendations for chlamydia trachomatis (CT), neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) and syphilis
The Public Health Agency of Canada has developed an information sheet for healthcare providers - Tips for STI Screening, Treatment and Follow-up - which summarises the Canadian Guidelines on Sexually Transmitted Infections recommendations for chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. These STI are frequently asymptomatic and reported cases are increasing in Canada. Normalising discussions about sexual health and offering STI screening to sexually active people provides clinicians with opportunities to discuss transmission, signs and symptoms, risk reduction and preventive measures. Healthcare providers are encouraged to screen for all STI.
