Syphilis in Canada: Where we are, how we got here and what we can do about it
This webinar is presented in partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Canadian syphilis rates have risen sharply in recent years, largely due to an increase in cases linked to heterosexual transmission, particularly among young women. There has also been a marked surge in syphilis-related stillbirths and infants born with syphilis. At the same time, a syphilis outbreak persists among men who have sex with men.
This webinar will trace where we are and how we got here by describing present and past trends. Recent surveillance data will be presented, followed by discussion of factors associated with syphilis-related inequities. We will also examine possible solutions and strategies for reaching the most affected populations.
